Hi all
This is going to be a bit fractured. I had a bunch of ideas for writing
this week, but I may or may not remember all or some or none of them.
We'll have to see. Things are a bit busy here, but I wanted to post
before my internet hiatus since I don't know when we'll get our
internet hooked up.So today is moving day. All the big stuff is over there, with lots of
small stuff which we'll probably move over the next few days. The
utilities probably won't be hooked up until early next week, so the
weekend is going to be a bit like camping, with no hot water or
electricity. But oh well. Just being out on our own again should be
enough to eclipse most of the problems for us. The apartment is going
to take some work. My wife and I are the kind of tenants that landlords
like, since we invariably leave the place better than when we arrived.
There are a number of things that will drive me crazy until I get them
fixed -- wall paint slopped all over the wooden moldings, a hole in one
wall which would be covered by the washing machine if we had one...
stuff like that. Oh well. It'll get done, and soon the place will be
our little corner of paradise
In addition to being model tennants (
), we're also the kind of
customers that managers like. Ate at McDonalds yesterday and had an
unpleasant experience (some might say "what other kind can you have
there", but hey...). I ordered McNuggets for the first time in a while.
They're my favourite. I popped one in my mouth, but the texture was
like goop. Turned out, the nuggets were mostly raw inside, all pink and
cold. Not good. I took them inside to the manager. I'm a quiet person,
and I don't like to cause trouble. I disapprove of people who think
they're entitled to a million bucks for getting a bad nugget. The
manager was very accommodating. He immediately refunded the price of my
meal and gave me the burger of my choice (oddly, I had lost my appetite
for McNuggets). I know that if I had kicked up a stink I could have
gotten all sorts of stuff, but that's not my style.Anyhow, one more random observation and then I have to sign off. You
know those mufflers - the kind that people put on souped up cars so
they make lots of noise? Well, I've always thought those were kind of
dumb. But the other day I saw something which led me to a realization:
as dumb as they are on a standard souped up car, they're ridiculous on
a car with automatic transmission. They sound like a combover looks.Okeedokee, that's the skinny for now. I don't know when I'll be back
on. Hard to say. Internet probably won't be hooked up this week, but
who knows. But then again, with my recent posting frequency you guys
probably won't even notice
Be good, stay safe, and I'll see you soon.
Take care

That happened to me with nuggets at the McD's in the mall that I worked at in Edmonton. Interestingly enough I lost my taste for nuggets too. It was a most unpleasant experience.
Have fun roughing it this weekend!
Happy Moving Day and Happy Fourth
Good luck on your new life!
"They sound like a combover looks"
brilliant!
Good luck with the move. I hope you get a hook-up soon.
the only complaint i have is that the atm machine never works at mcdonalds.....but i can't complain...it keeps me from spending so much money there!
I rarely eat McDonald's and your story is reason enough for me not to. I hope you enjoy moving into your new place and I hope you get to make it your own corner of paradise soon enough.
Hope you have fun setting up in your new place. I hope you'll post some pics when you get back online so we can see the before & after.
MacNuggets eh? I must be getting old - they don't even tempt me any more. I wish I could still eat deep fried fish'n chips though.
Love & virtual hugs
Needless to say I don't eat at Micky D's, but if I did I wouldn't kick up a fuss either. What happens to me in life is my responsibility. I don't always like it but I try always to remember it.
Enjoy making your new place a home.
I was reading about the birthday cake tradition and my heart went awww.
Good luck with all of your move, as much as moving drains it sounds wonderful ya'll found a good place. I know exactly what its like living with the inlaws as I'm doing it now and yes...it wears thin much quicker than we sometimes realize.
Thanks for the comment and your prayers. I'm not religious, but I do appreciate it when people pray for me.
I've had a similar experience with nuggets like that, but seeing as my husband bought em home, I couldn't do a thing about it. Oh well.
Happy 4th of July, and hopefully, no more icky nuggets ever for you. *hearthugs*
I'm going to have to try screaming obscenities at a mirror the next time i have to speak publicly. Thanks for the comment, and about the Macdonald's thing. Yuck! I tend to be one of the more quiet complainers too. I only violently complain on xanga because it keeps me on an even keel. Take care and hope your place works out for you.

I should've forewarned you about the mcDonalds experience. I had the umpleasant experience of working there some time ago and I remember that the motto was to get the food made as quick as possible. I remember one time there was a lunch rush and we had no meat for the Quarter Pounders. I had some 2 hour old burgers sitting in a garbage bag ready to throw out. Manager tells me "Just heat em up for 30 seconds and nobody will know the difference."
I don't eat there anymore after that.
Good luck with everything move related.

"They sound like a combover looks." - Classic. I'm going to have to use that one. Thanks.
Hello…kind of a boring day for me, so I thought to look around at other sites. i enjoy meeting new people, especially from other states and county's. i think it is fun and interesting, it allows you to learn a lot. and you are able to make a few new friends. never hurt's to make new friends. i hope that your summer has been going good for you and that you enjoy the rest of it. stop by and say hello whenever you have the time. props to you on your page. till then take care. *~Mai
I always like when you return something to a fast food restaurant that wasn't right (not cooked, dead bug, etc) they offer you a free one in return. Yeah... usually the appetite is gone after something like that. But I respect you for not getting in their face... I know someone who is quite the opposite and I hate going anywhere with her (One of those "the world revolves around me" kinda person).
Just wanted to thank you for stopping by my site. Thanks for the comments, and I hope to see you back.
hey just so you know, we (the non-fit throwing-for-the-most-part-types) get the shaft.
I was at Blockbuster the other night. I was with my little sister and her girlfriend. The lady infront of us had like a $46.00 late fee. She said "I dont remember returning anything late" and the lady said "yeah um you had 10 movies due last thursday at noon, and you didnt return them until friday night. I have it right here on the computer" the customer said "Well I still dont rember that" and after like 10 minutes of that conversation the manager came over and says to the employee "just delete the fees. Get her out of here." the employee says "the whole total?" "Yes."
So i step up to the counter only to be greeted by an $8 late fee. Which they did not let me out of, no matter how much i insisted that I "didnt remember". What crap.
My husband put one of those mufflers on his Geo Metro - it's sort of a joke, as the car's nickname is "Mighty Mouse".
Hope your move goes well! Moving is always such a big hassle.
I was wondering why I hadn't visited for ages, now I know!
