Hello everyone.
Well, I had some ideas for this particular entry, but I find myself feeling the urge to post some more pictures instead. Once again, they share little thematically, at least on the surface, though they were all taken in Korea. Looking through the albums to find these is rather a painful experience in some ways since, as I've mentioned, we miss it so much. But such is life. And such are the pictures:

I've always taken pictures of things that amused me, and Korea was just as full of them as any place I've been. I missed a lot for not having a camera with me, and this was a shot I made a special trip to take. The observant among you will notice that it's a phone booth, set into a sort of gap between two buildings. The more observant will notice that there is a door behind the phone booth. To get to this door, you have to crawl through the phone booth, and the lower rear glass panel has politely been removed.

Another common theme in my pictures is shadows, namely shadows of myself. I started this back in 2000 while I was living for a couple of months in England. I didn't have a camera with a timer, so I couldn't be in any of my pictures. So I started taking shots of my shadow, and it caught on. This one was taken looking east across the roof of our apartment building in Angang.

A class picture. I took pictures of all my English House classes during the week before we left. These were taken a 5 minute walk from the school, at the edge of town, overlooking the rice fields. This is my youngest class.

And finally, since the last little frog proved so popular, I thought I'd indulge you again. This one is obviously a different breed. Their stomachs are bright orange.
So there you have it. Another round of pictures. Hope you like them. Next entry I'll probably go back to boring words, but I'll definitely be running more photoblogs on a fairly regular basis, since they're so much fun to put together. Hope you're all having a great day. Thanks for dropping by.
Take care

That first pic is so interesting. Does anyone actually go through that door?
Hi! I stumbled across your site via the Living Abroad blogring. Nice site you have.
Whereabouts are you in S Korea? That is one country I want to visit someday soon.
yay! more great shots, justin. hurrah!
btw, you still havent replied to my email, mofo!
that looks like a teeny tiny fire-bellied toad.
fun pictures. love the one of you and your class. cute kids.
What adorable little kids.. and great pics. Thanks.
So where does that door lead to anyways? I like how they placed the phone booths though. It seems like an efficient use of space.
You can't beat tiny frogs.
Love the pics. I'll try to get onto our crowd to send some; mostly snow
but Kevin is stalking people these days, too.
Thank you for the cold snap you sent us from Ontario! Kevin has the day off school and says
"*in' A!"
Love, Hugs to self, wife & inlaws
Your pictures are wonderful. I shall tell Robbiekay to visit your site since she taught in Pusan almost 2 years and loved S. Korea. She would be a subscriber to your site, but she is in graduate school and must use the computers in the library. She has asked me to tell her when something comes along that she would like to see. Thank you, Justin. You are great.
My son recently put out a CD. His band, Cimmaron, is hard for me to describe. Westerners like the sound. It is somewhat sofe rock, a little country, some blues. I like it because the men who play in the band are good at what they do. I keep one in my car and play it on the long drives into the Cities. Do you have a recording out and if so, where can I purchase it?
I think you should take more pictures of the phone-booth seriously
Hola! Thank you for posting the link to your site for me on the bbs
I have linked to it from my log. I have a few friends who have taught English in SK and other Asian countries. Since I teach mostly Asian students here in NZ, there's a nice symmetry there.
Like them? They are brilliant, informative and compelling. Who wants to look at television when there are blogs like this?
i had to save that first picture of the phone booth. any little frogs like the last picture.. i'm afraid to touch. some are poisonous and i don't take chances like that.
Oh, I love your photos! Why are you in Korea? How interesting. I cracked up at the phone booth. That is hysterical.
Regarding the comment you made about having freedom as a kid. I did too. I had boundaries and the boundaries went further as I got older. We live in condos here so it has been difficult to even let our daughter out when she was little because the neighbors would complain. That and the fact that I probably scared her in trying to equip her with the warnings of not going with strangers etc... She was too scared to do much of anything. It took us forever to get her to go out and do the normal things kids her age do. She is a senior and she finally goes and does things. Whew. Talk about it backfiring. Well, thanks for your comment and I sure enjoyed reading your site.
I couldn't help but think the difference between the phone booth there and one here would be the glass would not be politely removed here.
I am hooked on the idea of shadow pictures now... I am always the photographer on family vacations, etc. and even if my picture was snapped by someone else it would most likely end up shredded and thrown out simply because I hate having my picture taken at random so ... I figure that if I take pictures of my shadow, I won't be so judgemental of things - my hair is messy etc. LOL thanks for a great idea
..lol .. I like the new banner picture at the top of the site also ...
hey there. thank you for the advice re. Paxil. slow definitely sounds like the way to go.
I'm glad you mentioned the door behind the phone booth. I didn't notice it, looking at the picture. Here, phone booths disappeared decades ago and public phones themselves are rapidly vanishing because everybody has their own cellular phones these days.
I watched "The Maltese Falcon" a couple of days ago and the ancient phones they used made me wonder what kids watching it for the first time would think. Does Metropolis still have phone booths for Superman to change in? Our technological clichés are getting away from us.
Am
nice pic of your shadow.I have been interest shadow picture since I was child.I was thinking shadow say something with no words../N *
it makes me wonder what is behind that door that would make someone want to crawl through a phone booth to open it. very strange...
i love shadow pics. they're really nice to look at. the kids look adorable. and what can i say about the frog? i absolutely love it.
don't you just love it when random but amusing occurences lift you up during the dreary reality of an otherwise normal day? that's what the 'phone booth' picture did for me today. hahaha and that's an adorable picture of you with your students! have an awesome weekend.
