A brief entry.
I've been sick now for 5 weeks and I'm really starting to resent it. It started out as an ordinary little lung infection, which turned into bronchitis, set off my asthma, and simply won't go away. Usually I'm one of those annoying people who hardly ever gets sick and recovers overnight. But not this time, apparently.
I think it's because of the horrendous air pollution here in Korea (especially compared to the unusually clean air of Newfoundland). It could also have to do with the vast quantites of chalk dust I inhale in the run of a day. Dunno. But whatever it is, it does its job well.
A few weeks ago, I got some antibiotics from the pharmicist. Those didn't work, so I went to the doctor. He gave me a fascinating cocktail of five different pills (no idea what they were, except that at least some were antibiotics), a shot in the arse, and a ventolin mask. At the pharmacist, they seal each dosage (breakfast, lunch and supper) in a string of little wax-paper pouches. It's fun. Anyhow, those took a dent in things, but then it got worse again. So now I cough uncontrolably a lot of the time, including during class which is really inconvenient. The worst is when I lie down, which makes getting to sleep a real ordeal.
So anyhow, I took it to the next level tonight. I went back to the doctor, who was suitably disturbed by my symptoms and proceded to hook me up to an IV for 2 1/2 hours (vitamin C, dextrose, a bronchiodilator and perhaps some other stuff. I also have a week's worth of even stronger pills (again, I have no idea of thieir nature), and even some to help me with getting to sleep. So there.
So that's where I am -- not particularly exciting to most, but there you go. I'm hoping for good things from this batch of pills, and also hoping that they won't agtravate certain uncomfortable side-effects caused by the previous round of antibiotics. Heck, even being able to teach without feeling like poop, and being able to get to sleep without coughing until I almost puke... It really is the little things in life...
Hope you're all well and happy.
Take care

Firt of all here's a link to some watercolors.
Sorry to hear of your health challenge. That's got to be difficult. I really don't like my health playing up with me, ever.
Oh my goodness, I'm sorry that you're having to deal with all of that. Sounds like it's been an awful time for you.
yes, you are one of those annoying people.
Justin, I've been thinking. I've got a really good space here now that I've built the booth, and capturing the recordings should be a breeze with my compu stuff. Why don't you catch a boat here this summer when you get back. You can stay here. And we can record the album.
You can get your driving license here in no time.
we could make the bugger right here, send stuff to rob when we run out of time, or if we want to spice it up a bit. I should have DSL soon too, and by the summer, I'll have two killa computers to edit on.
Just bring your software, and we'll network and have a big power house editing project studio for the summer. This would make things alot easier.
I'll even pay your ferry both ways, but you'll need money for food.
We can also work on making another video. I have some great ideas, ones which could possibly bring a nice fat cheque your way. Consider wisely. This seems the thing to do.
Mini is also possibly going away for two months to do training this summer, and I will (quite honestly) go nuts if I don't have somebody here with me.
Sound like a plan? Sounds good to me. I can get a really clean yet raw sound from this little space in the nice big office. You can work on all kinds of things, and get MONEY.
The clean air and water of Labrador will do you good too.

that really sucks...hope ya get better soon....and I'm glad thats pics were fun for ya...
That's a lot of trust you're putting into those doctors. I hope that their knowledge is cutting-edge.
Being sick sucks, man. I've had what you have, some super mutated bronchitis that just refuses to leave. After three months on and off meds, I was finally doped up on some sort of codiene cough syrup for a week. Knocked that shit right out. Feel better.
interesting. a friend of mine just had bronchitis also
I just finished a round of strong antibiotics and I can't say I'm feeling much better either!
I had pneumonia in August and had antibioics and kind of got a bit better. But not much, I was ill on and off until October where I got it badly again and had two courses of sulpha drugs and that did it. The cough persisted, Most cough medicines, I have been told are ineffective. Codeine works though, if you can take it.
I hope you get better soon.
Get better soon mate, I may even send you some free strings if you need them, lol
sorry to hear youre sick..i hope youre recovering well!
lung infection....i've been there mate. no fun at all.
the pollution is indeed horrid, and i contract all the stray colds. right now, for instance, every inch of my body is groaning in protest and my body temp must be up at least 5 degrees (celcius). no hacking cough as of yet, which i take to be a good sign (read: not SARS).
