The time passes quite quickly sometimes.
Woodworking continues to go well. I have 4 completed chests, I'm mostly finished an end table, and tonight I got an order for 3 more chests. This is good, since my wife's work schedule continues to give her a stressfully low number of hours. But hopefully that will resolve itself before too long.
Fo those of you semi-regular readers, I will say that the mandolin restoration is going very well, after a hiatus. Mine is nearing completion (sort of). Last night I put in new ribs inside and clamped the split shut, so it's now very sturdy and properly shaped. Today, I've been working on restoring some of the damaged inlay work. As for the other one, a musician friend of mine has shown some interest in purchasing it once it's been brought back to life. I'd love for him to buy it since I would know it would be in extremely skilled and musical hands, rather than ending up as a wall ornament again.
I'm heading across the province on Friday for a brief congference. Then I'm staying an extra day or two to visit a high-class interiors store that showed tentative interest in purchasing some of my furniture. I'm going to do my damnedest to wrestle and bend that interest into something resembling an order or arrangement. This would be a very good thing. She has been anxious to find a local supplier, since they've all gone out of business or charge too much. And I'm looking for a place to buy my stuff. It's a great store too... So cross your fingers for me.
Musical progress continues to be made, with several new songs emerging largely complete in the last few days. The fact that I have something like 30 of them being written simultaneously doesn't help matters. It also makes me sound like a hack writer. But I assure you that these are not endless love ditties with no artful touch. Hopefully they are good. But there's no way to talk about such things without sounding egotistical, or stupid, or naive, or whatever. I'm putting together a tape full of them to go up to Byron soon, so maybe I'll encode and post some of them so that you can judge for yourselves.
Anyhow, I should go home and do some work. The mandolin beckons. So does the fact that I need to have more examples ready to show the woman next week. Yes.
So I'll talk to you all later.
Take care
