  • Well, I'm gearing up in a woodworking kind of way.

    Aww Yeeah!

As my workshop continues to improve, my speed and accuracy improve too. It's nice having all the tools in one place. Today I installed a bunch more lights in the ceiling, so that I can see all the tools that are in one place. My wife bought me some warm lined leather slippers for basement use, which is good. I tend to work in bare feet, since the ceiling is so low, and my steel-toed boots make me bang my head. But the slippers are a good thing. They protect my feet from abrasion.

I'm on the phone with my wife. She is having something of a work crisis. She's been assigned only 21 hours this week (she's supposed to have 40), all until closing (late night), and all at times where there are no eat-ins (therefore, no tips). Yuck.

I've stumbled across some auctions for persian rugs. DROOLS!!!! I don't stand a chance at winning them, but they're just SO GORGEOUS, and the current prices so ridiculously tantalizing...

Anyhow, I'm going to go home now and try to offer solace to my poor, stressed out wife. Tomorrow, lots of building supplies arrive, so I can work and work and work.

    Take care

  • Sounds like things are going well for you. Good to hear.

The woodworking thing sounds wonderful. My father in his spare time carves and sells wooden figurines such as santa clauses hillbillies and birds. Back a few years ago he let me carve my own which was thrilling to say the least. Alas I didn't quite have the woodworking gift(Thats the polite way of saying that I stank) but it's one of those activities I also have admired in other people. Keep it up.

  • So glad to hear you're still making things. Keep making things and all will be okay. THanks for the emails, and I'll start posting more regularly again.

I was woodworking making all of this furniture out of balsa wood, but I couldn't get sheets of it that were bigger than 6" x 12" and 1/8" thick. Our hobby store sucks. So I ended up with a really small chair that didn't really stay together when I sat in it. So then I made an airplane and a mobile that I looked like a Calder or maybe a lightweight Brancussi.'Cause it was really complex. I mixed media. Both balsa AND string. See? I put it in the living room, and my mother thought it would fit better above my grandmother's bed. She tried to eat it. So I hope your wife gets more hours at work. And you can get rugs to keep your floor warm.
